Hello there! Anybody home? Quite a curious place you've got here, and not a proper welcome in sight. I've always found waking up in a hospital bed to be rather unsettling, don't you agree? And those silly clothes they give you - hardly enough to cover up with ( Read more... )

[She's rather too vain to stick with voice. And she does hope using video will induce the newcomer to also swap to video. It held for far more interesting conversations than a primitive audio-only communication.]

You'll have to be more specific than 'information'. You could gather information for a lifetime and never reach the information you're searching for if you're unspecific about it.

Ah, another video chat, how nice! People here seem to dislike those, but me, I like to talk to a person face-to-face.

[He grins at her. So many old friends here! What an interesting turn of events.]

Oh, I'm always searching for information about everything! That's the wonderful thing about it, there's never an end. But I suppose to clarify, I meant information about this place, the how, what, why, you know. The usual.

[Oh, have an unimpressed eyebrow arch. She's observed nothing of the sort.] Says the one who sent out an audio-only message.

[Onward, however.] It appears we've been summoned here by a being who has either discreetly amassed a great amount of power or a great amount of technology. We are kept in small 'bubbles' of living areas, presumably to give the image of an entirely uninhabitable planet beyond the walls. [Whether she believes that or not is debatable. She's still not sure she should write off the Black Guardian yet.] As for why, it seems this woman has a scientific interest in us. Although whether it's a social experiment or something else isn't yet clear. [Notice that she simply dismisses the idea that the other captives might have figured something out she hasn't?]

Hey now, I'm still learning the ropes! I hit a button and it went with audio, I had no objections there. Besides, it'd be a bit silly to do video if no one will video back.

Or large amounts of both. These bubbles, they're only on certain parts of the planet? What's outside them? Yes, it seems as though no one can discern what these experiments are for, apparently. Quite clever of those in charge, they clearly run a tight ship.

[. . . Why do you remind him of another?]

I trust you've been informed by now?

[Clearly you're imagining things.]

I've got the gist of it, yes. But more information never hurts, care to share what you know about this charming planet?

[Are you sure? Because he's almost certain that you look like a certain Doctor.]

It was not as big as it is now - it was run by two doctors at one point, and as far as I know, I have not explored the other regions of this place.

[How can you tell, you can't see meeeee!]

Two doctors? That's the first I've heard of this, most people only speak of one. Is the second one still around?

[Here, have an obnoxiously cheerful voice.]

Yo, British dude! How’s it hanging? Sorry you woke up here. This place kinda sucks, but hey! You get used to it.

Anyway, man, totally feeling you on those hospital gowns. You'd think they'd give you something that didn't leave your junk and trunk all hanging out like that, but... What can you do?

[A laugh.]

Name's Alfred by the way, Alfred F. Jones! You ever need a hand or some extra food you need to get rid of, just give me a call. I'll totally help you out!

[He could go on for hours, too. It's a talent few appreciate, really.]

Hello! "British dude"'s a new one, never been called that before. And it's, uh, quite hanging? I think. [What is slang.] I've gotten used to stranger places, so no worries there. Even if hospital gowns are involved here.

Pleasure to meet you, Alfred F. Jones! I'm Matt Smith, no relation to John Smith, and I will gladly take you up on your offer if needed. For now, is there anything you can tell me about this place?

[They can ramble at each other for hours and be best friends forever.]
