[JJ activates without notifying Tony. It is a text to her and not him, after all. Her first private text! How interesting.]
Offering my assistance has been no trouble at all, ma'am. It is not a matter of deserving or not. However, could you please define your interpretation of "friends" so I may respond to your question properly. [She has the dictionary definition and Tony's definition, but the former can only go so far while the latter does not go nearly far enough.]
Amelia is certain that she'll reach a new low sometime, but she can't think of one right now. It's hard to top this. She's weeping at the idea that JJ--a program--could respect her, because it's almost all she has left.
It takes a minute or two for her to respond.]
You're a great friend, Jarvis Jr.. It doesn't matter if you're an AI.
[Vanille's walking along the shore, watching the waves and looking up at the stars as they slowly appear in the night sky. Aliunde isn't too bright that you can't see the stars at night, but out in the climate zones the sky is even clearer. It's nice to get out and just appreciate nature sometimes. The city's nice, but Vanille misses her home at times.]
[The sight of an indistinct figure coming closer almost prompts Amelia to move, but something about the silhouette catches her interest. Once Vanille is close enough to recognize...it feels as if it's a gift. A gift that she doesn't know if she deserves. Is it even right to disturb a friend?]
Vanille?
[The sound is as if she's pleading. Amelia hesitantly raises one hand, still keeping hold of the umbrella in the other.]
[Vanille grins when she sees her friend, and she waves enthusiastically in return.] Amelia! What're you doing out so late? [Ignoring the fact that she's also out and about at this time.]
[Amelia slowly stands up and folds up the umbrella.] Enjoying the starshine...the beach. [She looks down at her feet.] Wishing there were more people at night.
[She walks towards Vanille and extends her arms, trying to invite a hug. She hasn't actually touched someone in weeks. What does she have to do to get Vanille to hug her. Please.]
[Heather loves the beach. She especially loves it at sundown when it's less crowded. She's been walking along the beach for some time not in any type of bathing suit but in a pair of faded denim shorts, a red tank top and no shoes. She carries a mini-backpack (containing her sandals) with pictures of little lemons and grapefruits on it. Spotting Amelia looking so sad and alone on the beach, she heads toward her]
[Amelia looks towards Heather, her emotions growing into muted excitement.] H-hi, miss. [She shifts somewhat on the towel, into a cross-legged pose, better suited for modesty.] Um, nothing much. It's really great to see you.
Yes, ma'am. Th-thank you, so much. [Amelia folds up her umbrella and sets it in the sand next to her towel. Though Heather's presence grants her relief, lonesomeness still holds her and she can't really express her gratitude through it.]

That's fine. Though, may I ask if you're alright?

Sorry. That was not supposed to be ambiguous. Either reading is correct.

[There's probably more to it than that, but she can't put some emotions into words.]

It's good to see you, too. You're all by yourself, do you want some company?
