When he arrives, boots crunching heavily in the snow, he slides to his knees next to her, quickly gathering her into his arms. No neck or spinal injury, so he's hoisting her up and stomping off towards the nearest hospital.
Too many friends have died because he wasn't there for them. ]

It's probably as much a blur for her as it is for him. She's taken by the doctors and rushed off to a room, and he's left to wait for what seems like forever before he's lead to the room they've put her in after surgery. He only half listens as the doctor explains her conditions to him, and when the doctor leaves, he hovers in the doorway before slowly making his way in, and sitting heavily next to her bed. ]

[After surgery, Natasha was uncomfortable. She hated being connected to wires. She hated painkillers. She just hated being useless. She didn't want to rely on others unless it was absolutely necessary. If she was fighting alongside the others, it was one thing. But something like this...
Her eyes open slowly after a while. She doesn't make a noise, but she does try to move. Ow.]

He doesn't know what to say and simply looks at her for a moment, then at the equipment she is hooked up to. He doesn't know what any of it does, though he remembers being in a room full of it and breaking most of it.
Brow furrowed, he just looks, not sure where his voice went.]

[Tony's been sending message after message to Natasha, hoping she'd finally pick up, but to no avail. He hopes that's because she's been taken to safety and not because some angel came and finished the job. Deciding for one last try, he hits the send button on his communicator, frustrated.]
Fucking hell, Nat, answer your damn phone. You should've fucking told me you were going out, I could've let you borrow my repulsor glove. What'd you try to do, fight them off with your ninja kung fu? Jesus Christ.
