Hsin Yeow's thoughts: Nobody Does It Better Than Candice

It's hard to keep a secret, especially from someone you love.

For several months, Candice did not let her husband, Keat, know that she had engaged us to perform for her. But a few weeks before the wedding, Candice called me to say that her parents accidentally let the cat out of the bag. Still, Candice had one more surprise up her sleeve: she wanted to sing for Keat!

The lovely couple: Keat and Candice.
Check out the Candice's come-hither look! She's really working those eyelashes.
No wonder Keat's smitten by her.
Photograph was taken by Ron of eye-deas.
In the days leading up to the wedding, Keat must have wondered why Candice kept listening to a certain song over and over again. On the pretext of listening to our rehearsal, she even snuck away for an hour from Keat to practice with Matthew, the keyboardist.

All her efforts paid off. When I announced that Candice was going to sing, Keat looked at me in complete amazement. Halfway through Candice's rendition of Nobody Does It Better (lyrics), he had cover his face as tears of joy were streaming down his face. I had to control my own emotions as well, because Keat's reaction was incredibly touching.

To Candice and Keat: Congratulations! It was our pleasure to perform for you; thank you for engaging us!

P.S. This a shout out to all bloggers in LJ-land! Many of Candice's friends blog actively in livejournal, so I saw many familiar faces in the audience. Some of them include squarenails (We'll be performing at her wedding in January, really looking forward to it!), cabbycabcab, lilsnooze, unpolished_gem, valska, am_klutz (thank you for your compliments!), juthepoo, cosmic_cow, beanbeanboing, jemej, mymomentsinlife, panjerri (thank you for your compliments!), apricotbrandy, icemilktea, birkies79, jesmineang, syun, hypodermically.

Other recommendations:

Butterfly Kisses - A beautiful paean about a father's love.

Better Together - An infectious ditty with a killer line, "it's always better when we're together".

Wedding Tip:

Serenade your spouse onstage! If possible, try to practise with the band before the wedding.

Compliments from Candice:

Thank you so much for the fantastic music! It was really beautiful. My guests loved it!

My dad was impressed instantly when you sang 今生今世 (This Lifetime), and said you were really good.

The husband was wow-ed when you started singing "A Thousand Dreams of You".

I'm sorry I couldn't sing any louder cos my voice was shivering and I was SO DAMN ganjiong. Plus the spotlight was rather irritating. heh

I'm so glad you made me go for practice too.

I'll crop and brighten some photos of the singing segment before sending them to you. Will send our group photo to you once my photographer sends us.

Once again, THANK YOOOOOU! To Matthew and Bevlyn too. They were awesome!
