Hurricane Bawbag

Dec 08, 2011 17:36

It's tad windy this afternoon, like howling windows, creaking roof, vibrating floor, windy. Not pleasant. I'm just hoping my roof and chimneys survive intact!

In other news, I survived my work conference call this morning but my throat has suffered for it and I can just about manage a whisper now :(

Don't you just love winter :/

health, weather, work

Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

The winds here are howling around the apartment building as well. It's kind of weird when your house starts whistling at you. I hope they don't go due west, because that would mean I get to find whether or not the owners finally fixed the leak I've been complaining about.

And as a matter fact I do, but just not right now. ;)

Argh. Should of course have wished you a speedy recovery as well as keeping my fingers crossed for your house surviving the storm. So a belated speedy recovery.

Thank you! Flat seems to be fine - haven't been outside to check for fallen roof tiles yet but there's no debris in the street that I can see and the ceilings are all dry despite torrential rain in the middle of the night, so I think the roof is probably fine. There doesn't actually seem to be any damage in this immediate area, despite how scary it sounded.

Lurgy has turned into stinking cold, am hoping this is the worse before it gets better bit and thinking I'll just write the week off and start again Monday, by which time I'll hopefully be feeling better!

You're welcome. Glad to hear things are OK with the flat. And sometimes it just better to give up and stay on the couch with a good book and a pot of tea.

On a side note: for some reason I pictured you in a little thatched cottage on the moors instead of on a top floor flat. Because everybody in Scotland lives that way, right? ;)

That's my plan for the afternoon I think :)

I wish! Some day I'll be able to afford a nice house in the countryside, at the moment I have my turretted 100 yr old flat which I would love a lot more if it wasn't on a main road. I do have a lovely view of the Tay and the Fife hills though.

I hope everything's still fastened to the ground today, it sounds scary. I hate the wind.

Seems to be, thank goodness! I used to love windy weather but I hate it since I moved into this flat because it howls and creaks so much in the wind :( I'm never buying a top floor flat again!
