Poll What shall I call my pottery website/shop?Please bear in mind that the chosen name will be part of a web address, so shorter may be preferable. Also, I don't want to use pendants or jewellery, for example, because I also make vases, goblets and other stuff, which I may want to try selling at some point too ( Read more... )

Cos you can't have an apostrophe in a url ;-)

Also, to me "pottery" connotes middle age, whereas ceramics are artily cool.

I know I can't use the apostrophe in the actual name, but it offended my sensibilities to write it incorrectly in the poll ;)

I'm torn on the whole pottery vs ceramics thing, thus why I'm asking you lot - I can see your point, but I also think pottery sounds more crafty and homemade, whereas ceramics sounds more sophisticated than my pieces maybe are...

That's a fair point. Ceramics could sound pretentious to some ears, I suppose, but to me pottery means mugs and bowls, whereas ceramics has a much wider range of possibilities - it's more about the material rather than the object. But that view could be something to do with my archaeological background.

It is an interesting point though, I guess I hadn't really thought that pottery said 'pots' specifically, because I'm so used to using the term. Ceramics is winning out in the popular vote at present anyway :)
