The extremely dodgy adverts were one of the many reasons I decided I'd had enough of Facebook. Mind you, I saw an advert for cosmetic surgery on TV the other day...

I've only seen the facebook ads since I"ve been borrowing Frankie's Mac, and they're bizarrely unpleasant - mostly either sharky debt companies or weight loss pills.

I use a Greasemonkey extension to strip them out, but I'm not on my home PC so I can't tell you which one.

I tried adblocking them but it didn't seem to stay. Deactivating my Facebook account has solved the problem nicely, though ;-)

Certainly takes more than surgery to make anyone an amazing person. I suppose they could claim they didn't mean an amazing *person* - but what kind of advert is "Make yourself the same person you were before but with an amazing cleavage/tum/nose/etc!"

I still think this kind of thing plays to insecurity though. Not healthy advertising.

earlier today i saw an advert for the same outfit on Cricinfo.com of all places, and had similar thoughts. very grim.
