I think the desperate emails you send should include some pointed hints that yes, ramping up the gay subtext will get this novel BOUGHT. Even if it's a, "Arthur has fallen under a mysterious spell that attracts males but repels females to his great whiny displeasure", or simply, "Love spell."

Sure it has to go through an approval process for novelisation, but that doesn't mean it can't happen.
