The Golden Compass: Meh too all over the place. I loved the bears though.
I Am Legend: The title makes a lot more sense (and is also consequently a lot more awesome) in context of the original novel. The novel had an awesome twist to the whole thing that the movie just completely overlooked. The movie was alright up to a point, but it jumped the shark towards the end after the whole Sam thing.
Oooh. Actually, I had originally thought, knowing nothing about either film or novel, when someone spoiled me about the religious overtones at the end, that there would be some kind of confrontation between Will Smith and the creatures entailing something like, "Where is your god NOW." Except it didn't happen.
I would've liked to see the twist happen in the movie, it would've made the film clearer, but then it would've commited the sin of starting up the movie again halfway through, and then drag it out to four hours long.
At least I understand where the title came from now.
