"Hypnogogic Ideas"
Last night, while I was having this neural-plasticity epiphany, I got so excited that I did something I'm always meaning to do. I turned on the light, pulled a random pen and a random notebook, and got to writing my ideas down. I gave the notebook the very pretentious title "Hypnogogic Ideas", and started recording the random little things I thought of. I'd been bouncing a few experiments around in my head, designing methodology, itching to go off and do a literature search, never mind that it was 1:30am. And I decided, scrow it, they were too good to be forgotten.
As you can see, after a while, my train of thought wandered all over the place. That's a feature, not a bug -- it's the nature of completely free thinking, which for me can pretty much only happen as I'm going to sleep.
Here I reproduce for you, my dear readers, what I wrote last night, verbatim (except where I used non-typographical symbols). I was going to include comments/"translations", but that'd take forever, and it's nice to see it as written. So if you want me to explain something, ask freely. Hope you enjoy this random glimpse into my brain.
Hypnogogic Ideas
That visualizer for blind ppl w/ the moving pins @ your back. Makes a difference if the subject has been blind for a long time / since birth? Easier or harder to repurpose neurons that have already been repurposed once?
Charter mark conlang? / signed lang
Echolocator clicker for blind ppl. Possible to use ultrasonic clicks & step down to audible range? (for resolution) Or: use very top of human hearing range -- if used on children, do they lose this range?

If a body part was made entirely numb for a while (vs being cut off) would it remap to an adjacent bit of Penfield map?
How to implement magnetic sense? Finger ring? Placed elsewhere in body so as not to fuck w/ comps, credit cards, etc? Tape ricegrain-size to skin? Insert in incision so part of it sticks out, then tape? (up sensitivity? Poss. infection?) Would it fuck w/ nerves? how fast do ions travel in an axon?
What if you put a microarray in eg the visual cortex, & had it control something motor? Rewiring? Accuracy/strength/resolution?
how good are native Klingon, Esperanto speakers -- what deltas have they made in creolizing -- ?
"Grammar" of Torah cantillation?
Tetris dreams: visual (& motor???)
