beautifully written, and I love how you wrap the music around everything. The image of Sophie dismissing her piano teacher because she no longer needed one was perfect :)

The way you've wound the theme of music through her life is both well done and interesting - especially because I've never considered that a part of her backstory, but now, after reading this, it's almost canon for me. This is so indicative of where Sophie was in season two, and you capture her issues with her identity and her place among the team really well here. I love the quiet scene with Nate set in 2x01 the most, because it gave me a glimpse of the two of them, but her musings about the team just hit so close to home.

Again, lovely, lovely work.

I don't even know when I started believing that Sophie had musical talent, but it's firmly a part of my head-canon now. I think part of it is that I see Sophie as being very classical and she would be the type person who would want to learn how to play.

I'm glad that it worked because at first I was worried that I wasn't getting enough depth there but every time I pushed for more, it came off as very heavy-handed.

Thank you for the kind words! :D
