Graduation 2015

The students had Final Exams from Monday through Thursday, and today was graduation. Our graduation ceremony is held outdoors on an old military parade grounds next to our school, the same one we use for physical ed. There's something about high school graduations, we seem to remember them a lot more. It was exactly 19 years ago today we graduated from high school.... but college I don't remember... it was May something...

I feel you. I cried a lot of tears last Friday night at ours!

Most schools I've taught at automatically just have the valedictorian and salutatorian speak, but my first school did what yours does and I really liked that. I've seen several top students who are NOT confident with public speaking and it's painful to watch. I might also be a little biased because my Drama Club president got to give the speech at my last North Forsyth graduation (at least my last as a current teacher there).

Yes: (1) the valedictorian and/or salutatorian may not WISH to speak, and (2) there may be a student who may be better able to express themselves in that manner.. Oh well!

A senior insisted on getting a picture with me, and then after, the dad who had taken the picture said "so... how long have you been teaching here? WAIT, TEN YEARS!?!" and it was clear he didn't think I was old enough, hahaha!
