It was burning so bad and I started scratching, and then I noticed as I was running my fingers along my skin, my skin was red and swollen with large welts. I could feel giant welts all over my legs, my arms, my stomach, my back, my side, my chest, EVERYWHERE!!! I got out of bed ( Read more... )

I used to get stress related hives when I was a teenager. It was miserable. Atarax saved me, but it made me so sleepy. I hope you're feeling better soon.

Taking any medications? I developed a reaction like that to antibiotics some years ago even though I'd never been allergic to them before.

Nothing out of the ordinary: multivitamin, D3 supplement, allergy meds..

Hahah, I'm similar, as I'm allergic to oak and other tree pollen which runs April and May, then grasses start up in June and July, and indoor mold is year round...

I shudder to think what it'd be like to permanently live inland!!!

Because of Superstorm Sandy, my high school is temporarily relocated 20 miles inland right now, so I do get exposed to higher pollen counts this year; but it's true, I count my lucky stars that there is fewer plantlife on beaches!

how awful! and difficult r.e. getting to the hospital. it must have been really scary when you were having respiratory difficulty.

i had a teeny tiny version of this once - I was run down from being ill, ate a cheese sandwich, and I came up in hives everywhere. The doc said it was a one-off allergic reaction due to being ill/stressed. sounds like yours was an extreme version of that.

Sounds like that! I didn't know stress was such a health hazard!
