The slap stung, though not like he would have thought. It was a strange sort of tingle, prickling the side of his face, spreading warmth trickling through his cheek. He had caught him just right, gnashing against teeth, drawing blood forth.
Andrew laughed darkly. He turned his head slowly back after the force, staring hard into Beckett’s dark eyes.
The other man’s eyes narrowed dangerously, as though he dared him to continue, to keep laughing.
Andrew did not stop.
“You forget your place, boy…”
“You will never have control over me.” Andrew spat. He wiped the blood away harshly, as it oozed from the cut on his lip.
