I really like how she realized she couldn't hate Kai. I think that was fantastic actually... I think so many people who are anti-gay seem to forget that they are, you know, people. Seeing that realization in Gemma was nice and sent a good message, I think.

Gemma's a decent person, so she just can't hate her friend. It's not purely goodness that's making her accept Kai, though -- I think she's partly so understanding (for a Church girl, anyway) because, deep down, she suspects she's gay, too. But she really is also just...not an asshole.

I'm glad Gemma's reaction seemed reasonable here. :)
