Your fic is making me feel so bad for poor Devin. It probably doesn't hurt that he's being more pathetic than despicable in my canon right now, but I think did a good job capturing the "innocently batshit" vibe I imagine he'd have at this point in time. The mean parts about his ma rang really true for me too, even though I haven't developed her much in my canon and likely never will.

Ew to Dr. Al. Most of the staff in the mental hospital I worked at wasn't too creepy, but you know the staff in the Home for the Intractably Insane would be. I mean, really. Most of the people on their side are creepy as fuck anyway, ha.

Alex and Nem. Why you always getting it on? You just can't help yourselves, can you?

The people on Devin's side really are creepy as fuck. Mental hospital staff I've encountered were generally not too creepy, either, but, since this is Devin's side of the fence...yeah. Their hospitals so would be creepy and so would have creepy, creepy staff.

Alex and Nem have some variety of Thing no matter where they show up. It's just how it is, lol. I would be freaked out if I started writing those two and there weren't any feelings.

I'm glad you're enjoying this fic and glad that it's making you feel bad for Devin. He's in a really shitty position, isn't he? And I'm also glad his ma is coming across right, even if she's a minor character you're not even going to explore much in canon. I guess my own mean ma was useful for something, even if it's only possibly helping a minor fictional character ring true?
