LJ Idol Exhibit A: Week 3 - Shenanigans

Feb 06, 2013 15:50

Liam waited in the interrogation room, surrounded by darkness. He thought this was a mistake, as persistent light was more psychologically damaging than persistent darkness. You could sleep in darkness, even when chained to a wall with your arms above your head.

At least, Liam could. )

Dude, I know you struggled with getting this off the ground, but I think you nailed it. This definitely hit me right in my gut. I enjoyed this piece -- as much as my sick little heart can enjoy this, anyway. Good job. :)

Once I started it in the interrogation room instead of with Liam's capture, it became so much easier that it was kind of freaky. I was going for "hit you right in the gut," so yay effective storytelling! Thank you. :)

This was powerful and sad. I think perhaps the Righteous Government just made a mistake they'll regret later on.

Ohhhh, man. How much would that suck? I liked both the concept and the pacing of this story. The idea of a world where this could happen is both terrifying and not as far-fetched as I'd like it to be. I've got to admit, I'm hoping Liam finds the strength to get up and move on. He didn't do anything wrong - he did what Milo would have wanted him to do. The best thing he could do going forward would be to honor Milo's memory by keeping up his activities with Unity, especially since the Asshole Coalition is clearly not expecting that.

They clearly aren't expecting Liam to do, well, anything except be useless, depressed and traumatized. They're probably expecting him to straight-up disband Unity, if it's not disbanded already. Apparently, the "Righteous" Government doesn't think the organization they created is a big deal since it was brought together under false pretenses, but it might be a case of something like Gone Horribly Wrong for them. They wanted an organization of so-called deviants? They got one! And it will bite them in in the ass. Oops.

And, yes, this sort of scenario is just a little too plausible IRL for comfort. D:
