Things I don’t quite want my name on

So I wrote this book. Sort of. Essentially it was a freelancing assignment, taken on a contract basis for a one-time payment. It’s an answer-questions-to-learn-about-yourself book, and it’s fine. There are some good questions, plenty of standard or OK questions, and two that actually make me smile. I’m pretty much happy with the content on the book ( Read more... )

The credit is all that matters. anonymous April 3 2007, 04:39:44 UTC
I think you did the right thing. Why lose credit for a whole book just because you didn't write the introduction? The people who don't know you probably won't notice (or care), and the ones who do will already know you didn't write it.

As for the movie, yes, you will be famous some day and this will haunt you, big hair and all. What a fine bit of panel you'll have for all those talk shows.

I really want to see this movie now. Good job boosting sales (or rentals) by using that clever reverse positivism.

Ugh. That's not right. What's wrong with having a different name on the intro? I see that all the time in books. Of course, that's usually when the person writing the intro knows/respects/is a friend of the author, so it's more of a "celebrity endorsement" type thing. Still, to change it last minute without notice or input from you is typical bureaucratic B.S..
(I never know if a period is required when the sentence ends with an abbreviation like that. It looks odd, so I'm going to guess the answer is "no period".)

Anyway.
Have you ever considered publishing "True Porn Clerk Stories" in book form? You could have Ron Jeremy write the intro! ;p (I kid, I kid, but the book idea might become a #1 bestseller!)
