Cassidy had been on her way to deliver some snacks to Alice since she had been so concerned about her last week. She just couldn't talk about what she was feeling and figured baked goods would help.

Baked goods would have been awesome if Alice could actually eat.

She heard a knock at the open door and lifted her head to see who it was. (She could've done that whole future thing, but she tried not to monitor her friends' futures unless it was necessary. That took the fun out of being in school sometimes.)

"Cassidy, hey!" she said cheerfully, sitting up and setting the book aside. "Come on in."

Cassidy smiled and held out a tin. "I made you chocolate fudge cookies."

Alice gave the tin a longing look as she reached out to take it. "That's so sweet!" Did she have to mention that she couldn't eat? Maybe she could just set the cookies aside and take them home to Renesmee. Her niece was going through that whole "has a sweet tooth" stage, after all.
