At the moment I'm shaking like a leaf, and have taken valium.
In the post was a letter from Leighton Hospital, where I was yesterday for the bewb examination.
The letter is a standard appointment letter but it starts:
A appointment has been made for you to attend the BREAST CARE CLINIC
on Friday 9th July 2010 at 9:40am
at the Macmillan Cancer

but not long to worry over it
I don't know what to say other than if I were nearer I'd be there with HUGS and cuppas and cake or chocolate
I'm hear and listening like lots of your friends, keep holding on, you've been through a lot, you can get through this too

This is, as others have said, standard practice, but that doesn't stop it being scary!

Not quite the same situation I know but a couple of years ago I asked to be tested for the BRCA alleles that increase suceptibility to cancer. Just by asking for this and having a bad family history I ended up being referred to a cancer surgeon to talk about the options like prophylactic surgery and regular breast exams (at a far earlier age than women generally have them)! A few weeks after having a blood sample taken I got a letter asking me to go back for my results and had to beg for them to just give me the darn answer over the phone. The point is, once you're in their system they tend to give you the works.
