lumpy update...

At the moment I'm shaking like a leaf, and have taken valium.

In the post was a letter from Leighton Hospital, where I was yesterday for the bewb examination.

The letter is a standard appointment letter but it starts:

A appointment has been made for you to attend the BREAST CARE CLINIC

at the Macmillan Cancer ( Read more... )

*hugs*

that is so scary

but not long to worry over it

I don't know what to say other than if I were nearer I'd be there with HUGS and cuppas and cake or chocolate

I'm hear and listening like lots of your friends, keep holding on, you've been through a lot, you can get through this too

HUGS

This is, as others have said, standard practice, but that doesn't stop it being scary!

As other people have said this will likely just be them following a standard procedure regardless of what the results of the examination are.

Not quite the same situation I know but a couple of years ago I asked to be tested for the BRCA alleles that increase suceptibility to cancer. Just by asking for this and having a bad family history I ended up being referred to a cancer surgeon to talk about the options like prophylactic surgery and regular breast exams (at a far earlier age than women generally have them)! A few weeks after having a blood sample taken I got a letter asking me to go back for my results and had to beg for them to just give me the darn answer over the phone. The point is, once you're in their system they tend to give you the works.

FWIW, they called me in even when they were pretty damn sure it was just a milk duct in the wrong place. Which it was.
