I finally wrapped up most of my taskings from the recent trip.  All I can say is that there is one less bad person to trouble everyone ( Read more... )

All I can say is that there is one less bad person to trouble everyone.

This is actually seriously bothering me. I'm not even sure what I want to say but I feel decidedly creeped out.

Oh sorry. Didn't mean to creep anyone out. If it's any comfort, not a single person was hurt and dude will have to face up to what he did. I can't say more on that topic.

Ah, I must admit I assumed this person was now dead. If they're going to see a trial that's much less unnerving.

Yes, sorry for that impression. I am assuredly against any action that would be illegal or immoral. Great pains were taken to maximize a the chances of peaceful conclusion and to ensure judicial oversight. I do appreciate your concern. People must be able to speak out against wanton action. I know of one individual who spoke out against torture at great risk to his career and I applaud his courage.

That line makes it sound like you had to kill someone as part of your job, which as a military officer isn't particularly surprising but is kind of depressing. I'll have to trust the person earned their fate unambiguously and there were no collateral casualties.

I've dropped out of martial arts for the time being. Seeing the doc on Monday to beg for an MRI of my achilles, which looks like a snake that just swallowed a rat. Could be a partial rupture. :\

Fortunately, the individual will be brought to justice and it was very clean. I have seen people die, more than a few.

Oh, so sorry about the injury. I just hate when that keeps me down like that. My shoulder's been bothering me too and I hope it's just a strain. Take care and get well soon!

I have also seen people die, but generally in the context of old folk's having a long-expected and not-unwelcome death.

Glad you only had to catch this dude and not kill him (crooks are statistically more likely to be male).

I know that everything was done to maximize the chances of a peaceful resolution. Such is not always possible, but I'm glad that it came about.

On two occasions overseas I was present when children were killed and it still haunts me. It was a lot to overcome, especially with the feeling of wanting payback.

Recently, I had been fairly patient with a group of people myself...up until they decided that they were about to threaten the safety of my family; I am always appalled at the senselessness of civilians, especually when they know you've got far better resources than they do (sure they could be attempting to analyze our response time and trail our units - as we tend to focus on our special forces when reacting to threats, but they didn't even know about a lot of major tactics which we employ). It took them by surprise, as is our MO, and unfortunately it also took a few of their 'talents' for them to realize they're not under the wings of judges any longer ( ... )

What??? Someone threatened your family??? My thoughts and prayers will be with you, Cy, as you deal with this.

It's a constant struggle for me to try to do the right thing. I think I'm doing pretty decent for the time being, but man, it eat up my time and energy.

Be blessed and be well, Cy! Love you too and big hugs in your time of stress here.

leviathan? Don't think I've conversed with you before. I'm guessing you too are in the military, or possibly retired ( ... )

My parents both worked in the government, but in different departments. It was a study in contrasts because one of them was run well and the other treated as a dumping ground for political supporters who needed a job.

I've seen both types of organizations and it's a tragedy to see the poorly run ones. There are small things that people can do to lead well and I'm upset when I see the ones that become self serving and sacrifice their people and their organization for their own advancement.

Thank you! I can't say much, but it was clean and no one was hurt and dude will have to face up to his actions.

I pull my hair out a lot of times with the personnel issues. If I could just fly and workout. :P

I'm looking forward to trying out kumitachi with steel blades. Safety will have to be a big concern though. :)

Don't listen to her :P she says she'd rather just fly around and workout, but her heart has always been for others. She deserves to be where she is.
