Okay, so I'm on vacation this week, and I'm planning on going through everything: hd100, hp100, utter_rubbish (not like that matters to anyone but me), and since I'm way behind on my flist, I'll probably just be going to individual journals

You like him now because you've read him in fanfic, from an adult's point of view and not just Harry's. It was the same for me -- I hated him through the books (although I did like him in the movies because, come on, Alan Rickman) until I read him in fanfic. Now I really, really hope he survives book 7.

And may I be the first to welcome you to the wonderful world that is Snarry.

Hmmm, short fics with a believable transition. How old are you now? So much Snarry is extremely explicit, describing first times and all....

dementordelta's "Parseltongue-tied" might be good, but it's got some elements that are not suitable for younger members of our audience. Ahem. She's written "Over Tea", which might be a good starting fic, although I think it's kind of long

I've heard about the House slash, but personally, I'm still too iffy about getting into other fandoms. I guess I know HP the best, and it takes up enough of my time already (in the best way, of course). I've done a little snooping around in Narnia, have been subjected to some LoTR stuff (which I stoutly refuse to have anything to do with), and have been wanting a bit to get into Lost, but am still hesitant to do so. HP is so complex and deep (what with up to five generations to write about) that it's more than enough to play around with.

I know what you mean; I'm trying not to add fandoms the way I'm trying not to add new TV shows. We're down to 8 hours/week, now that they've cancelled a lot of stuff we used to watch, and we'll be down further, since this is the last season of Will & Grace and probably also of Charmed.

And yes, HP is so wonderfully complex.

And just to hog this thread some more, I realized that the best place to start might be The Snarry essay at ship_manifesto. I think I read it a long time ago, and I know for sure that Detention is no longer, so I hope that the other links are still current. Good luck!
