Just went over to the tronkinkmeme to see how bad the damage really is.

It's really bad.

I'm not surprised in any way, shape, or form. We can complain to our heart's content, and probably nothing will change. They won't address us, or care at all. This is nothing new. Yes, it's one of the worst and actually detrimental changes they've ever made, and yes ( Read more... )

oh man, i would CRY if all we were left with was the tumblr interface. i'm so used to the livejournal one and i LOVE this platform ridiculous amounts and don't want to lose it. i'm sticking with ao3 for fic because that seems sensible but yeah.

LOL yes, the release post has been hilarious. OMG STRIKETHROUGH. i knew there was another major HAPPENING at lj that i couldn't think of.

and on the kink meme; they might want to know that using the minimalist style helps them out? i mod the tsn_kinkmeme comm and we're managing with that; it lets you retain subject headers AND lets you continue to nest comments, so.

It's just so hard to talk to people on Tumblr, and talking to people is what fandom is all about for me, possibly even more than fic.

Don't get me wrong--I agree with pretty much every comment that's going up on the release page, and I'm loling at a lot of them because people are genuinely witty, but in the back of my mind I'm just thinking, "I hope you know this will do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING and you are probably WASTING YOUR TIME." Which is a sad state of affairs and reflects poorly on LJ, but we really did all know that already.

I just like to see fandom/users band together and bitch. So quality.

Ooh, thanks, that's good to know. It doesn't look like the mods there have even addressed the issue (I did just happen, after all), but I'm relieved to hear there's a way to at least make it work properly again.

^ yes this, re: talking to people. i like the tumblr interface for what it is - but it's a completely different kind of site than livejournal or dreamwidth or inksome. and this is just, my very favorite blogging site, so.

hdsjngfj yeah pretty much. pretty much.

i have a dreamwidth, i have two actually, but once again it's the community - livejournal is my home, and unless THE ENTIRE populus of LJ books it on over there - i can't :C plus, i'd have to re-archive all my fic. which would be a NIGHTMARE.

incidentally, i am surprised and happy to see that you like tron? :D! i was balls deep in the fandom about a year ago, when legacy first came out, and have written a bunch of things! lovely, lovely things!

basically i foresee enterprising layout designers making a set of customised comment pages that look just like the old ones, or close to it. at least the customised pages have not changed coding-wise. i am basically going to find a new layout for the_grrrrid which is the only place i had disabled them, put up something readable. weep, etc.

I made a dreamwidth way back in the day--I'll probably import my journal over there soon, but I don't see myself posting there and crossposting to LJ any time soon. But you never know, I'll see how bad things get over here. Reading the release page, things just keep getting worse and worse--so many little features are broken now. It would be an absolute nightmare, wouldn't it?

Tron, yes! I had quite a fling with the fandom once I got around to actually seeing Legacy (which was after the DVD release), but my involvement was pretty limited to this post-apocalypse Sam/Tronzler fill on the kink meme. (I refuse to say I've abandoned it, but it's been months since I've worked on it). When I have the time I am going to stalk all of your fic. :)

The fact that all of this additional work even needs to be done gets me so angry. LJ really should realize that something is not an improvement if we have to work around it.
