This morning, rappleart3 attempted to teach me some expressions in Classical Greek. So she told me a fable, and I kept interrupting, and... well, I promised her I'd tell her my version of it.

This started from the expression ou phrontes Hippocleides, which is apparently synonymous with I don't give a shit. Anyway, here we go ( Read more... )

If you ever wrote that in an essay, I'd give you bonus points for originality :):)

Why thank you! *bows*

You have to admit, to someone with a perverted mind like mine, these stories are far too easily reinterpreted. Especially since we know what those Ancient Greeks were up to, don't we? XD

Eeeee! First impression is love.

And I just woke up, so I'll write something a bit more coherent later, after I *actually* wake up.

*LOL* I'm glad you like it! I chose to keep it vague about certain things on purpose, of course. XD

Funny thing is, it sounds like the plot to one of the m/m smut novels e-publishers have these days. *sweatdrops*

Well, see now I'm having the same problem, just the opposite time, very late at night.

Anyway, I likey alot. Hippocleides eloping with Cleishtenes' son? And a passion for dancing? So very awesome. If you ever go back in time and meet Herodotus, please convince him to write this instead.

Also, don't know if I made it clear last night, but ou kata nomon literally means "not in accordance with the law" You just use it to imply certain things ;)

It's a trick our Ancient Civilizations prof taught us back when I was still a History major. "If you find some aspect of it boring, there's always their sex life to analyse." He was a nice old man who died a few years back, unfortunately. :( But his teachings still live on!
