(Also I am pleased you enjoyed the technobabble, which is a thing that both enrages me (picture me, 3 am, listening to the first fifteen minutes of "The Inquiry" and trying to figure out what the fresh fucking hell a ~Timeonic Fusion Device~ is) and fills me with great joy. The way Narvin acts around Romana in part III is PERFECT because it's both credible behaviour for both of them and intense, and apparently I like intensely miserable people a lot. It's almost kinda hot (I don't think hot is what you're going for - what I mean is, this is emotional kink and it's well-written kink at that.)
I also really like the bit with the wiretapping a lot. I would have read more about that, actually. (Also, have you seen the movie, The Lives of Others? I have a feeling you'd like it.)
