I have to say that your names for your coworkers crack me up. Metric Pastry Cook is especially awesome. :D Is he/she from a country that uses the metric system (which I suppose would be, uh, anywhere besides the US)?

Haha, I aim to please! She's actually from Virginia, but she went to culinary school in England and so, as she puts it, she "only knows how to cook by the metric system."

Whyyy doesn't America just use the metric system, too? Why do we feel the need to be ~different?

I don't even know why we don't use the metric system. The imperial system is such a pain in the ass. Why can't everything just be based on 100 instead of 12??

And it makes SO much more sense to measure ingredients by weight instead of volume. Five people can measure a cup of flour and get five different weights. Fail, America.
