So, the lovely Rinalin has graciously agreed to become a writing coach for myself and literarylemming, as we have both signed up for challenges and have atrophied writing muscles. To that end, she is setting us daily assignments and possibly awarding us points. I'm hoping I can collect enough points for a pony, but we'll see

So how many points did you get? ;) I liked it. She has a young voice that fits the story. You know - I'm always thinking if we lived hundreds of years, there's so many languages I'd like to learn and careers to have. I could seriously enjoy a career in meteorology! lol

Given that this idea is all in the works, this is a fun opening. While it's all exposition, it's done in an engaging way. The terms you used were catchy - first-career and third-career - I can relate. While explains a lot about the setting, but it reveals more about Brandy, a personification of the typical young adult.
