The problem with fandom

Nov 13, 2012 19:03

So, like everyone else in fandom, I am a queer disabled woman who loves video games. And like everyone else in fandom, I find great joy expressing myself through femslash fancomics about the robots in those video games. But something has been annoying me lately and I need to get it off my chest.

Where are the robot/human enemy ships?
Am I the only one who's noticed this and finds it troubling? )

satire, fancomic, thoughts, not as funny as i think i am, femslash, meta, fandom

I hate all fanfic and slash equally. Especially robot/human enemy ships. This post is bad and you should feel bad.

I'm sorry, you don't have a phd in computational mathematics, your point is invalid :P

Man, this is like Nazi Germany.

In fact, your PhD wouldn't be valid in Nazi Germany. Or modern Germany, for that matter.

Ahahaa thank you!

(though I must admit, the original question had me anchored around some kind of freakish "ship who sang" thing because I misread ship as ship. The satire tag did help me through brainfuzz, and all was clear on second reading :)

> I don't mean to overgeneralise, but

If I had a nickel etc etc

Ahaha. I must admit, I would also totally enjoy robot/human enemy ships who sang.

Also, you got me thinking about how much Wheatley is a third wheel. Who really just wants to be loved (even if he did put GlaDOS into a potato).

Which reminded me of Jesse from Breaking Bad. And now I'm imagining Jesse and Wheatley sitting in a pub trading gripes about WW and G.

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MY BRAIN?
