Writing an Alias fanfic always trumps doing a thesis. XD

Jack Bristow rarely had dreams.

Or rather, Jack Bristow rarely remembers his dreams. It’s normal- most people forget what they dreamed about five minutes after waking up. There would be those who would try to hold on to a memory of their dream, a fragment of their subconscious, and jot them down on a piece of paper or in a journal. But not Jack Bristow.

Jack Bristow preferred to be kept in the dark when it comes to his subconscious. It was easier that way. He wouldn’t have to remember the past, wouldn’t have to remember the awful things he did, wouldn’t have to see the faces of the people he killed because he has that notion that the subconscious has ways of uncovering buried issues. And he had a lot of those.

So while people will themselves to dream of psychedelic rainbows, flying goats and talking trees, he commands himself to dream nothing - or rather, dream a harmless dream, something he wouldn’t remember. Because even if he wouldn't admit it to himself, he was afraid of seeing the only person he didn’t want in his subconscious, someone who filled his mind when awake.

Even after death, she has a hold on him. He couldn’t find a way to stop thinking about her. He couldn’t get her out of his system, couldn’t find a way to forget. The woman he both loved and hated with equal fervor would always be with him.

Jack Bristow rarely dreams, but when he does, he dreams of Irina Derevko.

author: derevko child, challenge: dreams and nightmares
