I got some really interesting answers to the learn something new question earlier in the week, so here is a somewhat complementary question ( Read more... )

hahahaha, writing my dissertation for the degree i never quite finished 15 years ago would be the obvious one (except that my alma mater no longer offers the subject i was studying at the time, so i'm not sure how that would work...)

Probably the mail server I wrote for work; whilst it's not actually in a bad shape, it could be enhanced somewhat.

Otherwise it might be various other deeply technical or mathematical things, some of which I'm not sure how long I'd want to solely dedicate myself to them.

A much easier question to answer - anything I've wanted to do, I've at least tried.

It would be an MSc in Brewing and Distilling which I could do full-time at Heriot Watt University. I suspect it would take me longer as I'm now 10 years out of College - so my degree would need to be refreshed. But here I am assuming my first degree, coupled with my previous amateur brewing attempts, coupled with the fact I wrote to HW ten years ago to enquire as to whether I could get on the course without A-Level Biology (I couldn't, so I did that the year after) would count as "already started".

That definitely counts as already started.

I haven't really made much of a start, but my proposed thesis on the history of marriage and partnership ceremonies would be good, though I understand someone else has written a book about it now *sigh*

I have an absolute ton of history projects of similar kinds, funnily enough was thinking about making a self-referential post on the subject of Stuff Wot I Would Like To Do But Prob Never Will, only last week.

Also, I would like to learn to sew properly, including pattern cutting, and make corsets and suits. I also would like to take up millinery again and do it properly.

And I'd like, at long last, to complete my project of making my own runes.

OK, this one is easy. (For the record, I think I'd have gone for 'learning gliding' in the last one, but I'm a bit worried I'd fall foul of the fact I've considered it before but never got around to it).

For a year and a half I've been thinking about how to build something like ffffound, but based on Flickr's favo[u]rites feature. In other words, you could browse your own favourites, and new favourites from your contacts, but also see recommendations plucked from those (by tag, hue, people who liked also liked, and so on). Like ffffound (and Flickr's interestingness) it'd try to look magic, rather than explaining what it was doing ( ... )
