Ah ! Hard choice !!!!! I would say... I don't know ! I'm just thorned !
I would have said Star wars (for young Harrison Ford... OMG !!!!!!), then Alien... for the new terror it brought, at the beginning of 80's (I know ! You're from another generation ! LOL !!!!!) this film is so... powerful !!!! And full of tension !... and with a certain Sigourney Weaver, who I really love her work... and herself, as a human being ! + there's also a certain John Hurt, who is one of my fave English actor... with a certain Alan Rickman... who is in... Galaxy Quest !!!!! ;)
I'll certainly never laugh at you because you have been afraid of ET !!! You were so young !!!! AAAAWWWW !!! What idea your parents had to force to watch that, and when they noticed that you were afraid, as well ?!?!...
So, nope !!!! Don't watch Alien !!!!! Because this ET is really not friendly ! LOL !!! But it's not a horror film like others, because you don't see the "monster" a lot in the film... everything is 'suggested'... that's why this film is so creepy !!! ;)
What I can't watch on screen is violence.. I can't bear that !!!!! I remember having switch off my TV during the film of Tarantino "Reservoir Dogs"... when they started to torture this poor cop... awful... and unbearable...
Thanks for not laughing! You're one of the few who don't laugh!
That's precisely why I don't like most modern horror films. Too voilent. Not very frightening but just disgustingly gory. Take a film that used to scare people - The Exorcist - hardly violent, very slow-moving, more drama than horror but even now it's still quite an eerie film.
I watched Resevoir Dogs on tape, so I didn't have to turn it off, but I fast forwarded through that whole scene. What scares me more is that some people are entertained by those kinds of scenes and laugh at them. Those are the kind of people that you'd be afraid would get ideas from torture scenes in films. Disturbing.
