Suzaku took the lead to their destination this time as Euphemia followed, noticing that there was something just...strange about this whole situation. Naturally, because she had been transported somehow into a strange new world, but it wasn't just that; Suzaku was acting oddly, and his new choice in attire struck her as wrong on several different levels. Regardless, it was a blessing just to find him here rather than arrive alone, scared, and utterly oblivious. Yes, she was grateful, but still she worried about the fate of Area 11 in her absence. Certainly Schneizel would carry out her dream in her stead, but there was no knowing. Yet she had faith in her siblings as she followed her knight ( ... )

"I'm your knight. It wouldn't be fair of me to leave you here on your own, right?" he reassured.

Then he took another look around them before taking her hand and moving away from the Gate. Not too far, just far enough that they could stop their conversation if they spot anyone walking into the area. No use coming out here only to have their cover (his cover) blown anyway, right?

Once they were a suitable distance away from the entrance to the field and Suzaku had made sure that there were no monsters that could sneak up on them, he asked; "... Where would you like me to start?"

Because there was so much to go over and he wasn't sure if he had the heart to repeat any of it to Euphie. Lelouch was better with lying than Suzaku ever had been, but he'd have to learn fast if he was to save his princess as much grief as he could. He was her knight and Suzaku would do anything to protect her...

Some knight he was.

Oh, Suzaku really was just as steadfast as ever, and it was familiar to Euphemia in a way that her surroundings were not. What unsettled her was his behaviour; though an airhead at times and optimistic to a fault, the princess could still detect when something wasn't quite right. There was something heavy in what her knight was about to tell her, and though a part of her felt uneasy about knowing what, she decided that it was her right as his mistress to know what was plaguing his mind. But what to start with? There was this world, obviously, but that seemed less troublesome suddenly than why her Suzaku was standing before her, masquerading as Zero.

That seemed as good of a point as any to start with, so she looked him directly in the eye as she posed the question:

"Well, there are some things that I've been wondering," she admitted. "But I suppose what makes me most curious is why you look so much like Zero."

Here, he shifts a bit awkwardly again. How could he explain this to her without revealing the Zero Requiem?

"It's..." a pause as he stares at the mask for a moment before he smiled sadly, "it's an agreement I came to with Zero. The two of us are working together in order to help maintain the peace you promised everyone."

Not quite a lie; the world they wanted to create was ultimately for Nunnally and Euphie's sake. A world where people were united through discussions instead of through war and everyone was equal. And until Suzaku knew that Euphie was also aware of Lelouch's identity as Zero, he didn't want to say a word.
