Is the narrative voice of your poem a writer, one who is having trouble grounding her work in reality? But the point is that reality is not always a good thing?
Hey, don't look at me, I don't know chocolate fudge.
It's more a writer feeling sorry for herself when she realises she can't seem to turn out such powerful stories as those she's come across... someone who can't get into the reality of otherness. But it's not exactly the clearest poem in the world. Your reconstruction of it makes perfect sense - and makes it probably better than it was when I wrote it. Thanks!
