Hi, Aelfgifu. When I was at Uni studying science I was thankful that I had lots of lectures and lab sessions that were compulsory I could never understand how arts students managed to survive without structured days without ending up seriously depressed....

Only yesterday I was chatting to someone about this very thing. We decided that science students have a lot of work, but it's limited - they can complete what they've been given and have no more to do. But an art student has potentially infinite work - you make a lot of it for yourself and you could always set yourself more to do or read. So although technically we have more free time, the underlying assumption is always that we've got work to do. Swings and roundabouts, really.
