Sesshoumaru: The Feudal Fairytale

Jan 18, 2007 09:57

Why is it that the Inuyasha fandom whines and complains about how oh-so-boring and uneventful the latest chapters are, blah blah blah, and then as soon as Sesshoumaru gets more than a few panels these same fangirls squee about how exciting the chapters have become and they want to read more and blah blah squee blah. *blank, unimpressed look* Really ( Read more... )

I'm intrigued by the notion that Inupapa might be a no-good theif, but otherwise...eh. Inu-tachi's reaction to learning Kohaku was with Sesshoumaru made me want to bang my head against the wall. It was basically..."Oh, there he is. Was wondering." At this point, Inuyasha's group doesn't deserve to defeat Naraku ( ... )

I couldn't really care less about Naraku *shrugs* I just wanna see more of him because that brings us just a little closer to the end. It's not that I hate the manga or anything, it's just that it feels evident to me (not sure about other fans) that Takahashi is just dragging this out for the sake of putting money in Shonen Sunday's pockets. Really, it needs to end.

I'm sensing possible inupapa/sessmom/weeklybaddy plotbunnies in the horizon *nod-nod*

I'm starting to wonder if Inupapa was as powerful as everyone thought he was. I wonder if he was just putting on a front, flapping his mouth in stupid arrogance like Inuyasha does. Sessmom-does-all-the-work-while-inupapa-takes-all-the-credit plotbunnies are forming here too.

Knowing Takahashi, though, we probably won't learn any more backstory from this guy than what was in this chapter.

Heh. In my little world, Sessmom was the powerful one, more powerful by far than the Inu no Taishou. Inupapa was simply highly charismatic and had a wife who adored him and was willing to let him take credit for her accompishments. And why not? She did everything for his or their son's sake. Basically, he was the PR guy and had a way of prodding his wife in the right direction. He was a great, but not exactly overly powerful leader.

Big talker, definitely. Of course, that all bites him in the rear later. XD

I keep having this feeling that she's going to end Inuyasha like Mermaid Saga and/or One Pound Gospel. Leave it hanging for years, and then suddenly finish the thing. I hope not. Really, I'm wanting the next 10 chapters to be final. XD

well, i TRY to squee equally... tho i'm sure i fail in favor of inu....

i liked this chapter mostly cuz it gave us a little bit on each story line (except, as you point out, Naraku). i like the ones where everyone is involved a little. feels richer.

i don't really want it to end, but i know it needs to come to a natural conclusion at some point and i'll be ready for it when it does...

lol...it's ok if you don't squee equally :) This is merely an observation of mine.

I think it would be nice to see Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru team up, if only for a little while. I think, when the manga draws to a close, this would end up happening after all. *sigh* and probably so many nifty things will happen at once that by the time the manga does end, I may not want it to anymore :P

We'll see!!

i know what you mean. i'm really hoping for some kind of brotherly reconciliation, which would open up tons of new storyline opportunities (which she's likely NOT to do - but that's good for us fanficcers!)

i'm pretty sure i won't be ready for it to end.

It's been months since we last saw Sesshomaru, and I do find his storyline one of the most exciting. That doesn't mean I find the rest of the manga boring or worth complaining about. I enjoy it, but I'm looking forward to finding out how Sesshomaru completes the meidou, hence the added excitement when he shows up. Jaken also gets some of the best lines lately, so it's fun when he's around too. Sesshomaru plots are always a nice change of pace to me because we spend so much time with the Inu-tachi. I'm not in a rush for the series to end.

Has it really been months? *thinks about it* I guess so. lol, for some reason it doesn't feel that long to me.

Of Inuyasha, I know only the anime I saw, which wasn't even the whole thing. I liked it a lot, but yeah, the main story is defeating Naraku, not gazing at Sesshoumaru's hotness. Takahashi has to be careful about not giving in to what her fans want; as an artist, her job is to follow her own vision of the story.
