Tech: Web Browser Extensions

Do I know anyone who has implemented Web Browser Extensions? I am after the sort of thing where it sees what page you are looking at, goes and asks a server if it knows anything good or bad about that page, and then reports it to the user. I am trying to understand how much work that is. It seems that it might be quite easy in Firefox. and less so ( Read more... )

I've done a tiny amount for Firefox, and it was dead easy. You just write some JS and hook it up.

I've read a teeny amount about what you need to do for IE, and it's all C++ and I ran away very fast.

Thanks. I've found something called http://crossrider.com which claims to be a cross platform way of implementing extensions. I don't know if it generates both js and C++. I have done several years of C++ but that was over ten years ago. I am not exactly up to date or up to speed.
