w.t.f.

I mean I might work from home or move to Anna's for a couple of months - but that is because I live within walking distance of the Olympic site...

But if the internet is unusable then how do they think I can telework?

IF you move to Anna's for the duration, why not talk to a letting agent about getting some rental income during the games? You could probably make a packet.

A shedload of British data infrastructure runs through the Docklands; the big backbones coalesce there and it's the reason so many financials moved into newbuild offices in Wapping and Canary Wharf over the past couple of decades. Come the summer those lovely fibre-optic links aren't going to be pushing financial bits around the planet, they're going to be moving cinema-quality hi-def traffic in realtime for a hundred foreign broadcasters instead and that's going to piss off the quants and w^Hbankers who have nightmares about 3-millisecond ping times between routers.

we've already had comms about working in other parts of the country during that period, so all my northern internal clients will be getting much love!!

Methinks they are over-reacting again.

Mind you, if it was going to be a problem, the solution is obvious: cancel the Olympics. Arrest those who set it all up, since they clearly did it for their own personal greater glory. Force them to return the money they have misappropriated for this farcical athletic extraveganza.

Then establish order, peace and the timely running of public transport throughout the land. This last section is the easy bit...

I'm very confused about what's actually happening for the Olympics. Supposedly, there are going to be £10 million extra people in London but hotel bookings are down 90 % and LOCOG has reduced its own hotel bookings by a quarter.
