State of the Union

Mar 05, 2010 19:24

As a union steward (Chief Steward for the whole nightshift, among several other titles), I am trained in conflict resolution, the contract, policy, and even labor law.

So what has taken up the lion's share of my workweek?

BEDBUGS.

I shit you not.

I think he would have said "week" instead of "work week" if it had been their home.

I saw one of those educational channel things on bedbugs, and they are quite scary. They can infest furniture and not just soft furnishings, and people have inadvertently brought bedbugs back to their homes from infested hotels.

I am sure the conflict resolution is working really well on the bedbugs;-)

Boric acid (Borax) or STEAM clean the mattress or BOTH. Boric first, steam clean second. There's a reason for the whole "don't let the bed bugs bite" statement before bed. ~grin~

Bedbugs. LOL. Wow.

The bedbugs are NOT in our home..... We have not even mentioned it at home so that my Aunt doesn't freak out and think that we brought them home.

Been hearing about this off and on over the last couple of years. Apparently, per some of the news overheard on Ontario Today, the homegrown variety we used to have to worry about wasn't that big a problem anymore.

Then we started sending troops to Afghanistan. Which apparently bred a hardier sort of bedbug. And as our soldiers got rotated back...

Not something we expected to have to deal with as a consequence of wartime, although maybe it should have been, hm?
