Thank you! I don't think I would have even had the idea if you hadn't mentioned it. You're right it is a way for Dean to protect Sam, but also I think it has a little bit to do with Sam's age. He's only 13 and Dean is 17, so yeah, Dean's protecting his little bro. But, I also think they trade off pretty regularly *wink*.
