To me, they all sound the same. But this one has been produced with so much polish, such attention to detail, that it disrupts my ability to even enjoy them. I'm too busy marveling at the sheer mass of iconography being used to attract the younger version of me ( Read more... )

It's the desaturated jewel tones, isn't it? Oh, and the flip book is cool too, actually - so very personal. What's with all the hockey-lovin' though?

For me, it's like: Hm.

Parchment.
Swirly typography.
Apple + snake album art.
Well-groomed gothy boys (you can tell they're smart AND sensitive)
That turntable.
The background is animated.

They're New England boys, so there's a good chance they're going to love hockey. The Bruins are a pretty reputable team. But compare their presentation with the other stand out New England act trying to break into the mainstream, the Dropkick Murphys (http://dropkickmurphys.com/index1.php) and it's just... ok... clearly, one has an agency. The other does not.

But the DMs have talent and bagpipes, so... I think the outcome is pretty much set.
