I have slain the monster--the monster that is my 15-page sci-fi essay. It is titled “Subverting the Rational and Defamilarizing the Common”: The Influence of Gothic Literature on the Genre of Science Fiction. It actually ended up being 18 pages with the works cited. Go figure.

Is your paper online anywhere for literature geeks interested in that sort of thing?

I haven't posted online yet because I am always nervous that if I post them before they are graded, they will get caught up in the plagiarism software, but think I will post it in a couple of weeks. Some of it is crap because we weren't allowed to reference any other sources except the stories we read in class so I had to make huge guesses about Gothic literature, but I think I made some interesting points.

The plagiarism software is pretty stupid too. Once I got a 4% plagiarism report on a paper because it found similarities with a blog entry. The similarity? The date.
