I can't even articulate what I think of people who deliberately start fires. It makes me so, so angry. It's enough to make you lose faith in humanity, but then other people stand up and prove you wrong. Support for victims is pouring in, and not just money - The Red Cross is being inundated with people eager to donate blood to the burns victims. ( Read more... )

Those arsonists, when caught, are seriously screwed. After all that has come to pass, whether deliberate or by natural factors, the public will be mobbing for scapegoats.
The tale of that CFS firefighter and what happened to his family beyond devastating. We all pray for those who have been affected, directly or otherwise.

I heard about it on the news yesterday and I thought of you. I really can't believe some of them were started deliberately, it just--there are no words. :( I'm glad you're okay. ♥

Apparently people were going around and re-igniting ones that were under control. :(

*hugs* ♥

In some ways I think it's worse because they must have already seen what'll happen when they're out of control. >:(

Whoever is responsible can, if you'll forgive the expression, go die in a fire. So freaking horrible. I hope they get caught and go to jail forever.

I got emails from people overseas asking about me. It surprised me coz news of Oz rarely makes it overseas.

Exactly, right? It's so odd that the rest of the world is paying any attention to us.

My heart is with all Australians in this...I just can't believe the photos and videos that I've seen of this tragedy; it's so unbelievable that it looks like it has to be a movie set, but then you remember that it's not. The scope of it, and the loss of life, is just unreal. I hope that you continue to be one of the lucky ones, and my thoughts and prayers are with everyone down there, and especially so with the people who have lost loved ones and their homes.

This whole thing is so sad on so many levels. First and most obvious is the loss of life and all of the people who have lost loved ones... But I also feel sad for the people who are starting the fires. How messed up in the brain do you have to be to do that? There are some serious issues there. I hope they do get caught so that something can be done about them, and they don't continue to wreak havoc.

Australia is in my prayers. :)

It's sad all around. And they'll be absolutely wrung through the mill by the public too - Australians hate people who start these fires, the way the public comes out to hate child molesters or something. I fear they won't get the rehabilitation they need.
