Alex, you're no curse. You've done nothing wrong, sweetheart, there is no way that you caused anything to happen to Yaya. Trust me when I say it isn't your fault, and that you are much, much more of a blessing than you are a curse.

Am I? I know it's illogical but how can I not even think about it, dad? Mum, Aiden, Yaya. I feel like a disease. I don't want anyone else to die.

You're not responsible for the pain the world throws at people sometimes, sweetheart. You didn't make your Mum sick, you didn't have anything to do with the horrible things that happened to Aiden or Yaya, you just happened to know them all. I know how much you brightened Mum's life, I know you would have brightened Aiden's given the chance, and Yaya's, because I've seen you helping your sisters with their homework and I know what a kind and intelligent teacher you are.

I don't want anyone else to die either. But Alex, none of it was your fault.

i know how you feel, sweetheart. sometimes shit just seems to follow some people round like... well, like a bad smell, which would be the shit...

but yeah... i've seen some dark stuff, too. dad's in prison. one of my best friends got murdered. young mate of mine's on heroin. a lot of shit can happen around one person, don't make that person bad though. maybe means you get more opportunity to help others than some people. not that that's always easy. don't go thinkin' you're a curse though, okay? i don't know you all that well, but i can tell you that ain't so.
