And like any dorama, it gets better as it goes forward.
The only thing - Rain's outfits (especially in the first half of drama) make me giggle like silly. :D

I could not resist, when I see interesting shoes I am done for. They were very much reduced, though :D

Watching films late at night and sleeping until at least 10.00.
This is one of the best things about holidays. ;) I love the sense of immersion that comes with watching film after film. I did a re-watch of "Batman Begins" yesterday, and I do love that movie so. There is Christian Bale of coures, but there is also this debate about myths - and the strength that can be contained in a myth or a symbol. I love that.
And "Layer Cake"! It is visually stunning and very clever. The ending caught me by surprise though, but I gues that is a good thing. I have never seen The Island, not even the power of Bean compelled me. Mostly because of all the promo in advance of the film. By the time it was out I felt like I had seen it already. Alas for too much pre-exposure I guess. :(

I wear high heels quite often, and the steady ones like the ones on the new "snake skin" shoes usually don't give me a problem. But cobbled streets - this sounds so cosy and so from the last century, I love cobbled streets.

Now I fee l I must re-watch this too. :D
The ending caught me by surprise though, but I guess that is a good thing. Though "Layer Cake" was quite exceptional cinematography-wise, but it didn't offer me much of a surprise until the ending. It was going pretty much the way "Snatch" and "Lock, Stock and Two Smocking Barrels" gone. But because ending was so unexpected and somehow reminiscent of "God Father" I really quite liked the film overall ( ... )

I saw 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire' for the first time last night. As you probably know Michael Gambon plays Albus Dumbledore in that one. I've also only recently seen 'Layer Cake' for the first time. So when I hear Gambon's voice last night again I totally hear him say 'Welcome to the layer cake son'. Which seems slightly out-of-place in a HP movie. :D
I enjoyed 'Layer Cake' very much and was very disappointed that it was never shown here at the theatre. So I had to buy the DVD. On the commentary track the director says about one particular scene (tongue-in-cheek) that he thinks Craig auditions here for the role of James Bond. That was way before it actually happened.
I thought the ending was a little bit too abrupt. Did you watch it on TV or from DVD? Did you have a look at the alternative endings?

I loved the ending. Even though film was made that every single frame is stunning and it was clever to the bargain, it is very much like "Snatch" and "Lock, Stock and Two Smocking Barrels". I don't say it is a bad thing because I love both of these films, but that just was my feeling. I read that Guy Ritchie was supposed to make "Layer Cake" too.
But the fact that the ending had two very interesting twists (and the second one I totally didn't see coming) made "LAyer Cake" much more interesting for me. And also the ending was reminiscent of "God Father", I thought this was cool.
