Spring is almost here! And with spring comes the season 2 of "Game of Thrones"! I feel differently this year - last year I was "not very interested" up to the show's start date and even well into the season 1. Although A Song Of Ice And Fire is overall one of my favourite fantasy book series, I felt the series might never finish, so some sort of

I always imagined Beyong the Wall as some king of taiga because the descriptions always include forests:

But those pictures from Iceland look GREAT! I am in love already. but then again, I have always thought that the Wall and around it was done the best of all in the season 1 as well.

Lol. yes, i don't imagine someone venturing into the permafrost forest of Siberia to film! but yay! I would like me some frozen forests!

I am just abput to start the re-read of "A clash of kings" (I have also re-read AFFC and AGOT last year..

I love the Whent and Florent sigils! Both are oddly cute. I'm so excited about Season 2, especially because my favorite characters will be introduced (though will we see Victarion, though? no word on his casting).

I'm of the same mind re. the series. Hopefully if he is pressured, the quality will not dip too far. I felt that way with the Harry Potter books - when they were immensely popular, the last few books were rushed and unedited, and lacked the "heart" of the first ones.

I think the quality of the latest ASOIAF books already dipped considerably. :(. I think this is the usual problem with the long-ish series - I imagine the author gets "tired" with the long series (or am I just projecting?) I think the situation is easier when the series are not a single story (like Vorkosigan saga, for example) , but still..

Oh, really hope you are right! I got this tendency to see patterns/generalise, and this is what comes to mind. I notice that in long series the last 1/2 books are usually better than the rest, too. but of course, there are no rules without exceptions.

The geographical split didn't work for me at all! And YES to the call for new editor. BTW, I thought this was a problem with the latest HP books too (I mean the editing)

I am staying clear of spoilers as best I can and as such have not viewed video or pictures from the production except for one video, and I felt that alone spoiled me of some things. But I am very much looking forward to the new season and I am confident I will be finished with “A clash of kings” before then so I don’t have to wait watching to stay spoiler free. So far I am enjoying the book just as much as the first one. I’m getting more and more interested in Sansa, Tyrion is still kick ass and I can’t wait to continue reading and follow the story of all these different people and all the plotting. Catelyn is annoying me less as well, we’ll see if that will continue or not.

I do hope George Martin finishes the books; I will choose to overlook the many possibilities as to why he may not. I will do the same for the show and hope that they at least will make a good ending to the show whenever and however.

I am sure the footage from Iceland will only reinforce my wish to travel there and explore. One day!

Catelyn never was my favorite, but not because I find her annoying - I just get terribly bored with her chapters, and I think there are less of them in Clash of Kings. :D

I didn’t mean to imply you should keep spoilers under lock and key; post what you want. I’ll just scroll past what I don’t want to know just yet. I’m already looking forward to watching all the production videos at a later stage.

Annoying is probably not the right word; but something irks me about her at times, though so far I think she handles herself better now with Robb as King than she did when she took Tyrion captive and all that entailed.
