A bit about Jaime and Cersei, plus new-ish pictures of Nikolaj Coster-Waldau.

I am successfully re-reading through "A Feast for Crows", only 150 pages left! I will finish the book by Tuesday, it seems. One of the in-your-face things that I noticed is how much Jaime loved and still loves Cersei. This feeling seems to be so sad and so one-sided, as there is nothing in Cersei's chapters to indicate that she ever loved him in ( Read more... )

jaime, nikolaj coster-waldau, game of thrones, asoif

mmmmmmm.

Cersei doesn't love anyone except herself and her children, ime, but somehow it's not her fault.

Do you think her upbringing is to blame? Sometimes I think :"yes, to some degree", but then I remember that both Jaime and Tyrion were brought up by the same Lord Tywin, and they seem to be capable of love.

I totally agree with you and noticed the same thing when I was reading affc. I wondered if it wasn't grrm's way of showing a transition of jaime loving cersei to jaime loving brienne and how each woman "loves" him back. It is already remarked upon that brienne wipes his arse when he coudn't and that cercei never would.

I think grrm is going to make a couple of them to show jaime's growth shallow, scheming cersei to loyal, plain brienne while brienne will have to struggle with whether to break an unjust vow to kill jaime. Loving him will make it that much harder.

It would be nice to have cersei realize what she's lost when its too late :) I don't know that its anyone's fault that she is so self absorbed.

And isn't nikolaj super sexy in that picture with the hoodie!

I think on my first reading I for some reason concluded that Jaime is much more in love with Brienne than I notice it now. I ship them so much (so it must have been my wishful thinking), it is sad for me to read all those passages where everything he could think of is Cersei.

And yes, Brienne is so much better, it seems that Cersei can not care less for Jaime. I AM SAD! What if Jaime does not love Brienne and what he feels is just friendship/respest/whatever?

I am not too worried about the vow, I think Brienne will not keep it if she makes it.

It would be nice to have cersei realize what she's lost when its too late :)

It would. I don't think this is likely to happen, though. She does not seem to care.

i actually don't think jaime loves brienne yet. i think it is coming. although you make a good point about jaime maybe never wanting her. idk. i think of how he jumped into the pit with the bear. and how he now says her name...and how brienne calls out for jaime when she is in trouble.

it looks like it could happen. it feels right to me because when we first meet jaime, there is no way he would give this woman a second thought. now he's dreaming of her and coming to her rescue.

i almost wish it would just so cersei can lose it all over again. she would think he'd gone mad. but i think you're right - she does not seem to care.

Yes, i agree with you. I think this is possibly the early-middle stages of falling in love and it can go either way. I do think Martin will continue the way his started, but at the same time - Martin? I would not try to second guess him. He is a mystery.

I think Brienne is fully in love with him, though. She does remember Renly, but more in a vague, "I can not remember his face" way.

but all in all, I do not think those two will be ever .. cough couhg .. doing it. As much as I want them to, I do not think theirs is this type of love. I think we are in for years and years of UST.

I am a bit worried about things that might happen to Jaime and Brienne in the future. Whilst I think that Brienne will not make a vow to kill Jaime or it will be canceled somehow, I do worry if Jaime loves her or not.

** laughs ** When I am truly obsessed with something I tend to get very verbose and want to talk about the subject all the time. I don't get THAT obsessed too often.

Although I never ever shipped Jaime and Cersei, I just want him to be happy and have what he wants, even if this means Cersei. There was a passage in AFFC where he admits that he did everything in his life for Cersei.

I think on my first reading I mised few things. I still don't think I shipping them as in: want them to live happily ever after (because this is not possible), but there is a definite :stab ypu in your heart" quality in their situation that I like so much in my ships.

I really don't understand the cersei/jaime ship because it is so one sided and is not a healthy relationship because cersei just use. Jaime to do what she can't. Maybe before it was healthier but by the end of asos they are just so different. They are both changing in ways that lead them even more apart from each other personality and morals wise as well. I think Brienne is better suited to be in a relationship with Jaime now, but he is still hung up on Cersei which is kind of understandable since she was the only woman he ever loved or was with. I think he is more obsessed with the fact that she 'cheated' on him where as he was faithful to her. He at least subconsciously has strong feelings for Brienne imo though because of how he punches the guy out in Affc. I just don't know if he has realized that or if it is just a bff relationship.

Those pics dayuum NCW so beautiful.

I never shipped them as well, but I I hated Cersei with the strength of hundred suna before. I used to think : "But she is so evil! She is so bad for him!" . I do still think she is evil, but he seems to want her in quite a heart-breaking way. He is jealous, yes, but then there are passages where he watches her in a bath and he is so IN LOVE.

I just want to understand what Jaime thinks. :D I guess I always hated love trianges, especially proper love triangles as Jamie/Cersei/Brienne, where it is not really cleary whom he loves.

I feel like he is obsessed with this image he had of her in his mind, where they were the same person only he was a man and she a woman. Since he was in the dungeons of Riverrun his physical appearance has changed almost to represent the mental change he has experienced. It is becoming more and more obvious that what they had before was almost like a fantasy they constructed. Now they are just growing apart, where as Cersei was a bit sympathetic before now she is becoming more paranoid and evil, Jaime is trying to regain his honor. The only way I can see them coming back together is if one of their change is reversed.

I am not sure. I think this is how Cersei felt about him. In Jaime's case I thought it was something different. MAy be he did not see her in realistic way. I think from what I read it seems like one of those "just because" loves, with no explanation.
