I have made a "Your favourite everything , season 1 of Game of Thrones" poll in
game_thrones community. I am cross-posting the results so that I can keep track of this.
This is the second poll of this kind, the results of the previous run (created after the episode 5 of the season 1) can be found

Well, she's a girl after all. Probably why Cersei is before Tywin and Viserys, too. (Though, speaking of hated female characters, I would have thought Lysa would be higher up there. I don't particular hate her myself so much as I kind of forget her.) And that's not to say that she isn't an awful person-though I'm quite fond of her myself-but there are way, way worse. And why is Robert so low?!?!?
But I actually commented to ask: this is just for the first season, right? Because if so, Arya and Gendry's 5~ seconds of interacting either really influenced people, or there is cheating going on here!
I also suspect the casting of Dany and Drogo and the actors having chemistry have made people forget the actual going-ons there.

As to the others: Viserys came across as poor misunderstood woobie in the show.
In Lysa's case, I thought the show Lysa was too OTT cartoonishly disgusting to call for any strong hate (and we haven't gotten to her worst moments yet, not many people have read as far as the last book, methinks).

Because if so, Arya and Gendry's 5~ seconds of interacting either really influenced people, or there is cheating going on here! Arya is the fandom favourite and her ship is bound to do well as soon as any TINY possibility of shipping has arisen (see how high Robb's ships are? And he hasn't even done as much as looking at anyone?) . I don't thik it is cheating ( ... )

Me too, but I notice the trend. I know Aiden Gillen from "The Wire".
But Viserys is interpretted as coming across as a woobie? Really? I mean, he was still an abusive creepster who liked to talk about how he'd let his sister get raped by an entire tribe without a second thought to get what he wants.
I still hate him too. But for some reason, I felt that the show looked with a slight sympathetic eye on this character, which was totally missing in the book. In the book I was all "Bring in the pitchforks now!" but in the show, I felt for Viserys a couple of times. This all said, I still hated him, I just think his representation was more sympathetic.
I also find it weird that Jaime, in discussions at least, seems to be getting way more criticism than a lot of characters I feel are more deserving? Like, I'm not a fan of Jaime at all (and agree with queenofthorns that the show has made him even less ( ... )
