So, I'm in favor of authors owning their digital rights to new works, and of taking charge of one's back catalogue of things where the rights have lapsed to them. Digital publishing lets you turn those works into a revenue stream and keep them accessible to new readers ( Read more... )

I think that's an awesome idea, and I have another as well. You could do books (digital) with a few authors in them that have a common theme, either writing style, setting type, subject matter, etc. That way multiple authors get exposure, which is especially good if someone gets it because they like one particular author in it, then they have the possibility of liking 4 or 5 more after finishing it. In my opinion, this would be the best way to format freebie works, since the author the person likes would probably have been able to get someone to get it anyway if there were multiple story-type things just by them, you can extrapolate that they would get multiple multiple story-type works with several authors if that author is included, especially if it's free or really cheap. You could also just charge a low amount, but that might get complicated with reimbursement.

I apologize for the rambly-ness; it's still mostly dark outside and while I'm not fully awake yet the caffeine is coursing through me.
