That's a big part of my username on this and many other sites, actually. I decided to declare myself awesome because I don't want to have to wait around for someone else to tell me I am. It's not because I think I'm better than people (although in some cases I certainly am), and it's certainly not that I require other people to think I'm great (although I certainly appreciate it when they do). It's been misconstrued over the years, but generally not by people whose opinions matter to me.
