23. Mr. Veidt's pre-prom assembly

Apr 28, 2011 11:59

[If you've somehow decided to come out here on your own or were pressured into it, well, you'll find Mr. Veidt in the school gym after school, directing boys to the left side and girls to the right.]

All right everyone, split up-

[Crowe looks frustrated and hestitates behind everyone in splitting up. He honestly figures he should learn both. He wonders if Flay would want to lead. He wonders if Flay even knows how to dance.

Oh god why is prom so complicated why can't it just be *over*

Eventually, he steps off to the left.]

[It wasn't quite pressure but it wasn't quite of her own volition, either. Dancing wasn't her strong suit and she would probably neglect to go to the prom at all, but evidently Adrian was her ride. There was nothing else to do around here after classes (she'd calculated pi to 847 digits and transcribed every instrument's part in Handel's Water Music to amuse herself today, and that was only first period), so she figured she might as well. Of course, rather than actually line up, she took her bag to the bleachers and intended to get her homework done. There was a quick wave spared for Adrian, who was literally the only person she'd met thus far.]

((OOC: open to anybody! SHE NEEDS FRIENDS even if she's an awkward turtle))

[ The locker room doors slam open into the gymnasium with several thick droned Mayfield students jogging out to the dance lessons. They're all from the football team which in the high school hierarchy ranks them higher than their deities themselves in the halls of the school. Straggling behind is a highly contrasting thin teenager with dusty gray hair in a simple mop top style.

He moves to the bleachers and the jocks suddenly 180, following the gray-haired teenager. He sits down a seat away from her and moments later the drones surround them, talking about nothing in particular. ]

... Sorry.

I didn't think they'd follow me so far...

((I'm going to assume this will get rid of them...))

[Maggie looked up with a blank, displeased look on her face. She was perfectly capable of multitasking, but evidently she was some kind of cheerleader in bizarro-world. As if. She looked at the boy near her, whose hair was super-weird but that was the least of her problems, and sighed a little. The things she did sometimes.]

[A bright, peppy grin for the football players brightened her face.]

Gee, I think I left my algebra book in the classroom! Will you boys run n' get it for me?

[The voice she used could have come straight out of Leave it to Beaver, and she curled her ponytail around one finger. She even topped it off with an endearing giggle. After they left, she dropped the act and appeared to return to the homework.]

So what were they following you for?

[ And sure enough the jocks traipsed off of the bleachers to fetch an algebra book in question, from a classroom that was an even greater question. The things boys do for a pretty face.

He turns to the girl and gives a small smile. ]

I'm not sure. They started following me a few weeks ago. Thanks for that.
